SUSSEX HISTORIC CHURCHES TRUST RIDE AND STRIDE 2010
Help to preserve our beautiful Sussex Churches and join in with the annual sponsored Bike Ride or Walk on Saturday, 11 September, 2010. You can find out more information about the event on www.rideandstride.info or better still talk to Nick and Harry Lear who have taken part in this event for many years and who have raised lots of money for our church and for the Historic Churches Trust. It would be lovely to have lots of cyclists from our church taking part this year - why not make up a team and enter into one of the Trophy Events? Let us know if you would like more details, a sponsorship form, list of churches participating in Sussex etc. John and Madeleine (400548).PS We will be looking for volunteers to sit in St Mary’s Church for one hour each during the day to welcome cyclists.

Laundering Linen

Barcombe News – STOP PRESS!
On page 7 of the July edition of the Barcombe News, it states that the “Type of service” on Sunday 18 July will be “Matins & Holy Communion”. It should read “Morning Worship”
Campanology
It was great to see so many people wanting to ring bells when we had an open session at the beginning of May. We have looked into as many aspects of Health and Safety as we can think of, and are now ready to start. Teaching will begin in July, on Thursdays at 7pm. If you came to our taster session or just think you might like to try, we would love to see you. So that we get some idea of numbers, if you intend to come, please would you ring me on 01273 401444 or email me at gillian.macadam9wanadoo.co.uk
Tuesday group
A very small, informal group meets on alternate Tuesdays, 9.45 - 11am, at Primrose Hill. We simply look with care at a Gospel event and spend time in quietness thinking about it and sharing. If this might appeal to you, do please get in touch with Gillian. You’d be very welcome to try it once and see what you feel about it. My tel.no. is 400205
Plastic milk bottle tops
Helen, a pupil of Chailey Heritage School, is asking us to collect plastic milk bottle tops, so that she can save up to buy a VOCA, this is a voice output communication aid, which will enable her to become more independent in her everyday life. There is a box outside the Conker Room in the for everyone to fill.
Prayer Ministry
From Pentecost Sunday, after Communion, if you would like someone to pray with you either for yourself or for someone else, there will be two people in the prayer corner. You can but you don’t have to talk about it with them and if you find it helpful they will pray with you
Sabbatical
The Rector will be on Sabbatical for June, July & August; reading old conference notes on Leadership, Evangelism and the Holy Spirit; spending a month in Jerusalem (courtesy of Mike Bailey). During that period you will have some fabulous preachers and priests on Sundays. In the meantime the Churchwardens are in Charge with Rev Robin and Andrew Lamont and all the rest of you helping. Thank you, I will miss you so much.
Lost and Found
There’s a clear plastic box at the back of St Mary’s with several items of lost property. If you lose something, or find something, try here.
SPENT BATTERIES
Please note that Margaret in Turner’s shop in the High Street can now collect used batteries, saving you having to lug them to church to recycle them. No car batteries, thank you!
Stamps
Yes, Alison is still collecting them in the bag between the church and the conker room. Please put British stamps separately from foreign ones. Thanks.
